Did your Doctor tell you to reduce salt?

The first approach to reduce salt is to avoid packaged, processed, fast foods from the grocery or the drive-thru. Shop the perimeter of the grocery store and avoid all middle aisles.

You'll also want to dine out less frequently and when you do, ask the server to make a special note for the chef to not salt your food.

Add flavor with ORGANIC celery because it's known for being sprayed with pesticides, so buying organic is essential. Sodium is naturally occurring in celery, but don't panic and make this an avoid food as it is not a high-salt food. It's great to add to salads or soups for flavor.

You may also make your own Table Salt Substitute. Here are the ingredients to combine and store in an airtight jar in a cool, dry place:

  • 1 Tablespoon onion powder

  • 1- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

  • 1-1/2 teaspoon basil

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed, crushed

  • 1/2 teaspoon organic chili powder
